The East Asia Program is proud to announce the Fellows. This year there were ten recipients-some of whom are pictured here. Their fellowships support research topics such as the impact of urbanization on consumer spending in China to creating a social documentary about migrant workers employed on Taiwanese-owned fishing vessels. The East Asian Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program focusing on the region that includes China, Japan, and Korea. The main goals of the program are to provide training in East Asian languages and to introduce students to the societies, cultures, and histories of the region through courses in anthropology, art history, cinema.

The M.A. degree in East Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary program intended to enable students to develop a broad understanding of an individual East Asian culture or to engage in comparative study of two or more East Asian cultures. Students pursuing the East Asian Studies M.A. are normally. The Orrick Fellows Program is administered by East Asian Legal Studies at Harvard Law School and is intended principally to support Harvard Law School students, but applications will also be considered from students from other parts of the University, with a preference for projects concerning issues of law, development, governance, and the economy.
